‘Where The Water Went’

Inspiration
‘Where the water went’ is a fictitious trailer for an animated film about climate change on an alien world. The ship that the colonists bring to the alien world transforms into a robot, that can then be used to extract resources from the planet.
Sketches and Blockout
We looked at construction equipment as inspiration for the robots design, especially its color scheme. After we settled on a sketch, I blocked out the robot in 3D with the transformation sequence in mind, and he was modeled and textured by a colleague.
Features
Transformation sequence (arm mechanics and retractable legs).
Toggleable drills with rotation in base and arm.
FK/IK switch on legs (with smooth blend between FK and IK).
Bind controls on leg tubes. Allows fine control over tube shape.
